Abstract
The incidence of coalescent mastoiditis complicated with acute otitis media has been decreased. Life threatening serious complication, however, including acute coalescent mastoiditis and subperiosteal abscess may arise from middle ear infections despite of emerging potent antibiotics. Among the intracranial complications, epidural abscess constitutes the most common. Recently, we experienced a case of epidural abscess secondary to acute mastoiditis in a 4-year-old girl, who was successfully treated by mastoidectomy and pus evacuation.
